David Nzinga is a Swedish actor, producer, and founder of the production company DNZ Pictures. Born in Angola and raised in Sweden, David has established himself as a prominent figure in the Scandinavian film and theater industry, with a career spanning both on-screen and behind the camera.
He made his first leading role appearance in the Swedish TV series Familjen Babajou in 2009. Since then, he has participated in numerous high-profile film and television productions and performed on some of Sweden’s most prestigious stages, including the Royal Dramatic Theatre. His theater work also includes productions such as the annual Christmas show En hederlig jul med familjen Knyckertz. In 2019, David toured internationally with Unga Klara, Sweden’s National Theatre for Children and Young People, performing in cities such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, New York, Beijing, and Istanbul.
In addition to his acting career, David has built a strong profile as a producer. Through DNZ Pictures, he produced the feature film Glaciär for Viaplay. In 2021, he joined Warner Bros, where he worked as a producer on Maria Wern Season 9, one of TV4’s flagship series.
David was recently awarded the prestigious Anders Sandrews Scholarship for screenwriting, marking the foundation’s 15th anniversary. He also works as a dramaturge on the Royal Opera Ballet production Gustavia, directed by Amir Chamdin, a major premiere exploring the life of Gustav Badin.
Beyond his creative work, David is actively engaged in building bridges between the Nordic region and the African diaspora. He is the founder of the platform People of Film and serves as a board member of CinemAfrica. He has been instrumental in initiating cross-cultural collaborations, including co-organizing the first Nordic film festival in Angola in collaboration with Sweden, Norway, Angola, and Portugal.
David has also developed creative networks in Rwanda with the Nordic Baltic Forum, contributing to initiatives aimed at establishing a film academy and strengthening local film infrastructure. His work reflects a long-term commitment to international collaboration, cultural exchange, and the development of new voices in global cinema.
He is a former advocate for the XO Foundation and a former board member of Fanzingo.
